Innovation On Display in Mexico City

At the end of October, BOMA International’s affiliate in Mexico City, Asociación Mexicana del Edificio Inteligente y Sustentable (IMEI), hosted a half-day conference for senior real estate executives and property developers. Also in attendance were BOMA International Chair Rob Brierley, BOMA Fellow, who presented on increasing asset value through innovation, and BOMA International Vice President Lisa Prats, who shared how BOMA can drive high-level performance in commercial properties around the globe. Following the conference, attendees were treated to tours of two state-of-the-art properties, Garden Santa Fe and Torre Reforma. Garden Santa Fe, located outside Mexico City, is an innovative project that features an above-ground urban park and an underground shopping mall and entertainment center. It features three large glass cones open to the sky that provide fresh outdoor air and natural light to the mall levels below. Torre Reforma, on the famous Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, is a concrete skyscraper that quickly achieved 100 percent occupancy after opening in 2016. Mexico City’s commercial real estate market is booming with significant construction in the pipeline.
