BOMA International's Guidance for Industrial and Office Buildings
While many tenants in office buildings have been working from home in recent months, most tenants in industrial buildings have been reporting to work as usual, all while adjusting to a “new normal” in response to health and safety concerns. Industrial property managers and tenants are challenged with protecting workers, visitors, contractors and other personnel and ensuring safe building operations and management practices amid COVID-19. To offer guidance, BOMA International assembled a task force of industrial real estate professionals to develop best practices for industrial owners and managers to consider, as well as recommendations that may be shared with tenants in industrial properties. Industrial Re-Set: Operational and Management Guidelines for Industrial Properties Amid COVID-19 provides a framework for developing customized management and building plans, and it identifies questions and important topics that should be considered.
And, if you own or operate an office building, BOMA International also has published Getting Back to Work: Preparing Buildings for Re-Entry Amid COVID-19, which provides guidance for preparing office buildings for the safe return of tenants, additional building personnel, visitors, vendors and contractors. It also identifies other operational and safety procedures and protocols that should be implemented, updated or enhanced as we prepare to live and work in a post-COVID-19 world.
