BOMA Fellows Leadership Academy Renamed the Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy

Long-Time BOMA Leader Honored as Academy Namesake

August 22, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 22, 2019) In celebration of a cherished BOMA leader, the BOMA Fellows Leadership Academy has been renamed the Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy. The decision was made to honor Dan Chancey, BOMA Fellow, RPA, for the remarkable contributions he has made to the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International over the years and his profound role in shaping future leaders.

The Leadership Academy, established in 2016, is a mentoring program that provides guidance and support to BOMA members who are interested in pursuing leadership positions within BOMA International. The academy serves an instrumental role in developing the leadership skills of BOMA members and boasts three program graduates on the current BOMA International Executive Committee. The academy is hosted by the BOMA Fellows, individuals whom BOMA International has recognized for displaying exemplary and sustained contributions to the industry, their profession, the community and BOMA at all levels while answering the call to leadership and service throughout their careers.

Chancey has embodied the values of the BOMA Fellows mission through his career. He has served in various leadership positions throughout the BOMA organization for over 20 years, including two terms as Secretary/Treasurer of BOMA International; two terms on the BOMA International Executive Committee; three terms as president of BOMA/Memphis; two terms as the chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program Council; and chair of the Office Building Show LLC board. In addition to Chancey’s many contributions, which earned him the prestigious Chair’s Award in 2012, he has also remained a dedicated champion for emerging professionals and leadership development. He has led numerous webinars and conference education sessions for BOMA International and has taught BOMI courses locally for BOMA/Memphis and BOMA/Nashville. These efforts speak to Chancey’s spirit of generosity and his commitment to the advancement of BOMA and the commercial real estate industry.

“Naming the leadership academy after Dan Chancey is more than fitting,” said BOMA International Chair Scott O. Jones, PE, vice president with Jacobs. “Like many who have had the pleasure of working with him, I feel honored to call Dan a role model, consummate professional and wonderful human being. I look forward to the Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy continuing to develop the best and brightest BOMA members into our next generation of leaders, and I hope this new name will further inspire members to get involved and veteran members to mentor.”

Most recently, Chancey was vice president, senior asset manager for Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors. He was named a BOMA Fellow in 2017.
