Certification & Recognition

  • BOMA 360 Performance Program®: Third-party validation of best practices in six major areas of building operations and practices, including energy and environment/sustainability.
  • BOMA BESt (Building Environmental Standards): A national program launched in 2005 by BOMA Canada to address an industry need for realistic standards for energy and environmental performance of existing buildings based on accurate, independently verified information.
  • BOMA’s The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards (Earth Category): Annual awards program honoring buildings and building management teams that preserve and enhance the internal and external environment through green and sustainable programs.
  • ENERGY STAR® Label: To qualify for the ENERGY STAR, a building must earn a 75 or higher on EPA's 1-100 energy performance scale, indicating that the facility performs better than at least 75% of similar buildings nationwide. The ENERGY STAR energy performance scale accounts for differences in operating conditions, regional weather data, and other important considerations.
  • Green Globes®: Worldwide building certification label for sustainable management and operations, developed by the Green Buildings Initiative (GBI).
  • LEED®: Internationally recognized green building certification system for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings, developed by the US Green Building Council.
