BOMA International Honors Four Regional Members at Annual Conference

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 15, 2015) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International honored four of its members with the Regional Member of the Year Award during the 2015 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Los Angeles in late June. Regional Member of the Year Awards are given annually to BOMA members who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to both the association and the commercial real estate industry.

 

The recipients honored at this year’s annual conference were:

 

Robert P. Cushman, BOMA/Greater Los Angeles

Pacific Southwest Region Member of the Year

 

Robert P. Cushman has more than 25 years of property and asset management experience, and he currently serves as the vice president of Operations at Brookfield. As past chairman of BOMA/Greater Los Angeles, he directed the development of a five-year strategic plan and spearheaded the implementation of the Regional Councils. Cushman has served on his local The Outstanding Building of the Year® (TOBY®) Committee, Scholarship and Internship Committee and International Planning Committee. A recipient of several TOBY Awards, his portfolio includes numerous BOMA 360 buildings. With his outstanding leadership, dedication and participation in BOMA at all levels, Cushman has represented his industry well over his distinguished career.

 

Michele Lowery, BOMA/Raleigh-Durham

Southern Region Member of the Year

 

Michele Lowery is senior property manager of Highwoods Properties. A BOMA member since 2005, she has held every position on the board of BOMA/Raleigh-Durham, concluding her board responsibilities in 2011 as immediate past president. Lowery has served as the chair of multiple committees at the local level, including By-Laws, Special Events, TOBY Awards and, currently, Programs. At the regional level, she has served as marketing chair and as a Best Practices Award judge. She has been a TOBY judge on the local, regional and International levels, and she currently is a member of the Southern Region Nominating Committee. Throughout her career, Lowery has continuously donated her time and talent, serving the organization at every level.

 

Gregory R. McDuffee, BOMA/Metro Detroit

North Central Region Member of the Year

 

Gregory R. McDuffee has more than 40 years of commercial real estate experience, and he currently serves as the Executive Director of the Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority. Since 2005, he has been a member of the BOMA/Metro Detroit Government Affairs Committee (GAC), serving as a co-chair of the committee until he became director of the BOMA/Metro Detroit Board in 2014. Under his leadership, BOMA/Metro Detroit won the BOMA International Government Affairs Award for Outstanding Government Affairs Committee and, most recently, best Single Advocacy Issue for its work on the passage of the Nonrecourse Mortgage Loan Act. McDuffee is the recipient of several TOBY awards, and he has served as a mentor for BOMA’s Young Professionals group. Throughout his long history with BOMA, McDuffee continuously has contributed his talent, expertise and dedication to commercial real estate.

 

Mark Wilshire, BOMA/Dallas

Southwest Region Member of the Year

 

Mark Wilshire has more than 20 years of experience in property and facility management with office, retail and industrial properties. He currently serves as senior property manager at Peloton Commercial Real Estate. A past president of BOMA/Dallas, Wilshire has served his local association in various capacities, including as chair of the BOMA/Dallas Foundation. He was honored with the Committee Chair of the Year Award in 2005. A strong advocate for commercial real estate, Wilshire has been an active participant in the BOMA/Dallas advocacy program, representing the organization at the state and national levels. Wilshire’s long list of accomplishments within the BOMA/Dallas community demonstrates his dedication, integrity and leadership.
