BOMA International Elects 2014-2015 Officers

John G. Oliver Elected Chair and Chief Elected Officer
 
(ORLANDO, FLORIDA – June 23, 2014) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International elected its 2014-2015 officers at the 2014 Every Building Conference & Expo in Orlando, Florida.
 
The Board of Governors of BOMA International elected:
  • John G. Oliver, BOMA Fellow, Managing Principal, Oliver & Company, Atlanta, Georgia, as Chair and Chief Elected Officer for 2014-2015;
  • Kent C. Gibson, CPM, BOMA Fellow, President, Capstone Property Management, L.C., Salt Lake City, Utah, as Chair-Elect;
  • Brian M. Harnetiaux, Vice President, Asset Management, McCarthy Cook, Costa Mesa, California, as Vice Chair; and
  • Continuing his two-year term (2013-2015) as Secretary/Treasurer, Daniel W. Chancey, RPA, Vice President, Senior Asset Manager, Commercial Advisors Asset Services, LLC, Memphis, Tennessee.
John Oliver, who served as BOMA International’s Chair-Elect for the 2013-2014 term, has more than 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.  He has been involved in a leadership capacity with BOMA/Georgia since 1988, including serving as President.  He has also played an active role at the regional and international levels, including serving as the Chair of BOMA’s National Advisory Council for three terms.  In 2010, Oliver was honored with BOMA/Georgia’s Huey Award in recognition of his dedicated service and was voted the Southern Region Member of the Year.  His recent work experience has included serving as Managing Director with Wells Real Estate Funds.  Oliver currently is Managing Principal for Oliver & Company in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Kent Gibson has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience working in property management, leasing, transactions, development, asset management and portfolio management.  He served as Secretary/Treasurer of BOMA International during the 2010-2011 term and Vice Chair during the 2013-2014 term, and he has chaired the BOMA International Audit Committee, Finance Committee, Floor Measurement Standards Committee and Voluntary Codes and Standards Committee.  Gibson has contributed to several BOMA floor measurement standards, including Office Buildings: Standard Methods of Measurement (ANSI/BOMA Z65.1-2010) and Gross Area of a Building: Standard Methods of Measurement (ANSI/BOMA Z65.3-2010).  As such, he recently was selected by the International Property Measurement Standards Coalition, which is working to create a common methodology for measuring commercial space across international markets, to be a member of the Standards Setting Committee.  He also has served as President of BOMA/Utah.  Gibson currently is President of Capstone Property Management, L.C. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
 
Brian Harnetiaux is Vice President of Asset Management for McCarthy Cook primarily responsible for a 1.1 million-square-foot portfolio of Class A office assets in Pasadena and Sorrento Mesa in San Diego.  Prior to assuming his current position, Harnetiaux was Vice President at Transwestern responsible for all aspects of leasing and management at MetroCenter in Orange County.  He has served as President of both BOMA/Orange County and BOMA California.  In 2011, Harnetiaux was named BOMA/Orange County’s Principal Member of the Year.  He recently completed his term on the BOMA International Executive Committee and as Chair of BOMA International's Industry Defense Fund Oversight Committee.
 
Prior to being elected BOMA International Secretary/Treasurer in 2013, Dan Chancey served two terms on BOMA International’s Executive Committee and as President of BOMA/Memphis for three terms.  He helped develop the strategies for the BOMA One baseline standards, has served as Chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program® Council and has worked on the Green Task Force and Audit and Finance Committees.  In recognition of his valuable contributions to BOMA International, Chancey received the Chair's Award in 2012.  Chancey currently serves as Vice President, Senior Asset Manager with Commercial Advisors Asset Services, LLC, in Memphis, Tennessee.
