Commercial Real Estate Firms Embrace BOMA 360 Performance Program®

Five Companies Have Earned the Designation for 20 or More Properties Nationwide

(WASHINGTON—March 26, 2012) CBRE, Brookfield Properties, Piedmont Office Realty Trust, Parmenter Realty Partners and Hines lead the pack for achieving the BOMA 360 Performance Program designation, an honor that recognizes commercial properties for excellence in overall building operations and management. All five companies have 20 or more commercial buildings that have reached BOMA 360 status.

The top five companies that have 20 or more BOMA 360 buildings in their portfolio are:

  • CBRE—59 buildings
  • Brookfield Properties—31 buildings
  • Piedmont Office Realty Trust—24 buildings
  • Parmenter Realty Partners—21 buildings
  • Hines—20 buildings

The rest of the top ten companies for most BOMA 360 buildings are: Cushman & Wakefield, LBA Realty, Transwestern, Granite Properties and Crescent Real Estate.

“Many real estate companies are working to earn the BOMA 360 designation for their commercial buildings because it is a mark of better building performance and has been a key factor in attracting tenants,” said BOMA International Chair Boyd R. Zoccola, executive vice president, Hokanson Companies Inc. “In fact, Brookfield and Parmenter have pledged to submit their entire portfolios for BOMA 360 review.”

According to a recent survey of BOMA 360 Performance Program® designees, 38 percent of respondents, many of whom received the BOMA 360 designation for their building in the past six months to a year, are already reporting that the BOMA 360 designation has helped them attract or compete for new tenants. In fact, 94 percent of respondents indicate they plan to renew their BOMA 360 designation at the end of the three-year term.

The BOMA 360 designation has been earned by 420 buildings in 55 markets. The comprehensive nature of the BOMA 360 Performance Program means that every aspect of building performance is assessed. Scores are based on how buildings meet extensive criteria of best practices in the following areas:

  • Building operations and management;
  • Life safety/security/risk management;
  • Training and education;
  • Energy;
  • Environment/sustainability; and
  • Tenant relations/community involvement.
