BOMA International Honors Outstanding Members of the Year

(Washington, D.C. —July 10, 2012) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International honored three of its members with the Regional Member of the Year Award during the 2012 Every Building Conference & Expo, held in Seattle, Washington June 24-26. The Regional Member of the Year Awards are given annually to BOMA members who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to the association and to the real estate industry.

2012 recipients honored are:

Karisa Johnson, CPM, RPA, vice president, management services, Transwestern, BOMA/Austin, for the Southwest Region Outstanding Member of the Year. Johnson has been a BOMA member for nearly 15 years and serves BOMA at all levels. She is a member of the Board of Directors of BOMA/Austin, is chair of the Program Committee, and currently serves as chair of the Southwest Region The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY®) program. She is also a member of BOMA International’s Awards Committee and is a board member of Texas BOMA.

Cybele Thompson, RPA, FMA, CCIM, LEED AP, director, client services, Cushman & Wakefield, BOMA/Greater Los Angeles  and BOMA/San Diego , was named the Pacific Southwest Region Outstanding Member of the Year. Thompson’s leadership, integrity, dedication and passion to the industry and the association earned her honors as BOMA/Greater Los Angeles’ Principal Member of the Year Award in 2011. She currently serves on the board of directors for BOMA/Greater Los Angeles and is past president of BOMA California and BOMA/San Diego. 

Luci Smith, RPA, FMA, senior property manager, EastGroup Properties, BOMA/Orlando, was named Southern Region Outstanding Member of Year. An immediate past president of BOMA/Orlando and member of several committees at the state, regional and international levels, Smith is also a three-time recipient of the TOBY Award and has won locally in 2008 and 2011 and internationally in 2009.
