BOMA International Elects 2012-2013 Officers

Joe Markling, CBRE, Elected Chair and Chief Elected Officer

 

(SEATTLE – June 24, 2012) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International elected its 2012-2013officers today at the BOMA International Conference and The Every Building Show, held in Seattle, Wash.

The Board of Governors of BOMA International elected:

  • Joseph W. Markling, managing director of strategic accounts, CBRE, Los Angeles, Calif., as Chair and Chief Elected Officer for 2012-2013;
  • Richard W. Greninger, CPM, managing partner, Operations, Carr Properties, Washington, D.C., as Chair-Elect;
  • John Oliver, CPM, managing director, Wells Real Estate Funds, Atlanta, Ga., as Vice Chair; and
  • And continuing her two-year term (2011-2013) as Secretary/Treasurer, Rebecca B. Hanner, CPM, RPA, principal and senior vice president, Cassidy Turley, Raleigh, N.C.

Markling has held senior positions at CBRE Investors and Lowe Enterprises Investors over the course of his 30 plus years in commercial real estate. As the managing director of CBRE’s Strategic Accounts Group, he oversees the RREEF Account, CBRE’s largest strategic account, which encompasses nearly 70 million square feet of office and industrial property located nationwide.

Within BOMA, Markling served as Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee of BOMA/Greater Los Angeles and as Chairman of the Board for BOMA/Greater Los Angeles. He also served on BOMA International’s Executive Committee, is active with BOMA/California and is a Board Member of the California Business Properties Association (CBPA). 

Greninger, who served as BOMA International’s Vice Chair for the 2011-2012 term, has 35 years of experience in commercial real estate encompassing acquisition, financing, leasing, operational management and dispositions. He has served as chairman of BOMA/Metropolitan Washington and chair of BOMA International’s National Advisory Council (NAC). He has testified before the United States Congress and Senate on behalf of BOMA International and in 2009 was honored with the Sidney Glassman Award, BOMA/Metropolitan Washington’s lifetime achievement award.

At Carr Properties, Greninger is managing director of a 30-property office portfolio totaling approximately five million square feet located in the greater Washington, D.C. region.

At Wells Real Estate Funds, Oliver is responsible for developing new business opportunities at the national level, through new property acquisitions; built to suits; sale/leasebacks and through expanded corporate services to both existing and future tenants in Wells’ office and industrial property portfolios.

Within BOMA, Oliver has held elected leadership positions for BOMA/Georgia since 1988, including serving as president. He has also played an active role at the regional and international levels, including serving as the Chair of BOMA’s National Advisory Council for three terms. In 2010, he was honored with BOMA/Georgia’s Huey Award in recognition of his dedicated service, and was voted the Southern Region Member of the Year.

Hanner will serve her second year of the two-year Secretary/Treasurer term. In addition to that role, she served as the 2005-2006 president of BOMA/Raleigh-Durham and president of BOMA Southern Region from 2009-2010. She has served two years on BOMA International’s Executive Committee and has chaired BOMA International’s Standard Method of Floor Measurement Committee.

As the Raleigh City Leader of Cassidy Turley's Property Management team, Hanner draws on more than 20 years of experience in the industry to oversee business development and service delivery. Her team's portfolio consists of more than 6 million square feet of office, industrial, flex, retail, mixed-use space and medical office buildings.
