October 4, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

20 buildings conferred in major markets across the U.S. for third quarter 2011

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 4, 2011) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International conferred 20 buildings with the BOMA 360 Performance Program® designation in the third quarter of 2011. Buildings in major markets across the U.S. earned the BOMA 360 designation, including San Francisco, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago and Washington D.C. To date, nearly 325 buildings have earned the BOMA 360 designation across 50 markets. BOMA 360 recognizes commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in building operations and management.

“The BOMA 360 Performance Program has quickly become the designation of choice for buildings that exhibit excellence across a broad range of building operations and management criteria,” commented BOMA International Chair Boyd R. Zoccola, executive vice president, Hokanson Companies Inc. “The building owners and property management companies of BOMA 360 designated buildings are market innovators with assets that have been proven to perform to the highest standard.”

The BOMA 360 Performance Program evaluates properties in six major areas: building operations and management; life safety/security/risk management; training and education; energy; environment/sustainability; and tenant relations/community involvement. The comprehensive nature of BOMA 360 means that every aspect of building performance is assessed, and scores are based on how buildings meet an extensive checklist of best practices.

Research indicates that BOMA 360 buildings are market leaders.  According to a recent study conducted by Kingsley Associates, buildings that achieve the BOMA 360 designation have higher tenant satisfaction scores in 47 out of 50 categories relating to tenant relations compared to commercial office buildings without the BOMA 360 designation. Plus, designees are achieving documented operational savings and performance efficiencies as a result of the BOMA 360 designation.
