BOMA International Elects 2011-2012 Officers

Boyd R. Zoccola Elected Chair and Chief Elected Officer

(WASHINGTON – June 27, 2011) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International elected its 2010-2011 officers Sunday at the BOMA International Conference and The Every Building Show, held in Washington, D.C.

The Board of Governors of BOMA International elected:

  • Boyd R. Zoccola, executive vice president, Hokanson Companies Inc., BOMA/Indianapolis, as Chair and Chief Elected Officer for 2011-2012.
  • Joseph W. Markling, managing director of strategic accounts, Asset Services, CB Richard Ellis, Inc., BOMA/Greater Los Angeles, as Chair-Elect;
  • Richard W. Greninger, CPM, managing partner, Operations, Carr Properties, BOMA/Metropolitan Washington, as Vice Chair; and
  • Secretary/Treasurer Rebecca B. Hanner, CPM, RPA, senior vice president, Cassidy Turley, BOMA/Raleigh-Durham.

Zoccola has spent 20 years in commercial real estate, including roles owning, operating and developing real estate. He has been involved in BOMA International in a variety of capacities, both on the local and international levels. He served for four years on the BOMA International Executive Committee and six years on the Finance Committee. He has also been active in BOMA´s Medical Office Buildings Committee. He served as president of BOMA/Indianapolis from 2007-2009.

Zoccola joined Hokanson Companies Inc. in 1989. In his role as executive vice president, he focuses the majority of his efforts in the area of development and has been intimately involved in the development of more than $500 million of real estate. He is an Indiana Real Estate Principal Broker.

Markling served three terms as chairman of BOMA / Greater Los Angeles after serving on the Executive Board and was chairman of the Government Affairs Committee. He is also involved with BOMA/California and recently served a two year term on BOMA International’s Executive Committee.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the California Business Properties Association (CBPA).

Markling is a Managing Director with CBRE Strategic Accounts and facilitates and coordinates the integrated and comprehensive performance on assignments undertaken for CBRE’s largest institutional client, RREEF/DEXUS. He oversees the national delivery of services including strategy formations, property transitions, team performance, operations, leasing and financial reporting on more than 70 MSF of real estate assets in the United States and Canada.

Greninger has 35 years of experience in commercial real estate encompassing acquisition, financing, leasing, operational management and dispositions. He has served as chairman of BOMA/Metropolitan Washington and chair of BOMA International’s National Advisory Council. He has testified before the United States Congress and Senate on behalf of BOMA International. In 2009, he was honored with the Sidney Glassman Award, BOMA/Metropolitan Washington’s lifetime achievement award.

At Carr Properties, Greninger is managing director of a 30 property office portfolio totaling approximately five million square feet located in the greater Washington, D.C. region. In his previous role as managing director, Property Operations, CarrAmerica Realty Corporation, he led the property operations for approximately 325 office properties and 400 employees.

Hanner has been actively involved in BOMA on a variety of levels. She served as the 2005-2006 president of BOMA/Raleigh-Durham and president of BOMA Southern Region from 2009-2010. She has served two years on BOMA International’s Executive Committee and has chaired BOMA International’s Standard Method of Measurement Committee.

As the Raleigh City Leader of Cassidy Turley's Property Management team, Hanner draws on more than20 years of experience in the industry to oversee business development and service delivery. Her team's portfolio consists of office, industrial, flex, retail, mixed-use space and medical office buildings.
