Ventas to Serve as Presenting Sponsor of BOMA’s 2010 Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Conference

January 27, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(WASHINGTON, DC—January 27, 2010)   BOMA International announced today that Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR) will be the Presenting Sponsor of BOMA´s 2010 Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Conference, to be held May 5–7, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

"We are honored to sponsor the 2010 Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Conference in our home city of Chicago," said Vincent Cozzi, vice president, Acquisitions, Ventas, Inc.  "This conference is the most important gathering of the year for medical office owners, developers, and managers, and we are delighted to be a part of it.  Medical office has become a strategically important component of our business, and we value this once-a-year opportunity to interact with the leaders in the industry."

"We´re thrilled to have Ventas as our Presenting Sponsor this year," added Danny Prosky, executive vice president, Healthcare Properties, Grubb & Ellis Realty Investors and 2009–2010 Co–Chair, BOMA´s Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Committee. "As one of the market leaders, their expertise and insight are a tremendous asset to the conference."

Healthcare real estate has emerged as its own asset class in the last decade, and demand in this sector is widely expected to increase in the coming years as the population ages and its healthcare needs increase. Proposed healthcare reform is also expected to help boost demand by shifting care to lower–cost ambulatory settings, such as medical office buildings.

This year´s conference will examine the implications of proposed healthcare reform and explore the potential impact for healthcare systems´ financial wherewithal; for physician practices; and for healthcare real estate owners, developers and managers. The conference will also provide insights into capital availability, with speakers and panelists spotlighting both the debt and equity markets. Healthcare systems´ strategies for delivery of care in rural markets, as well as for designing facilities that embrace patient-centered care principles, will also be part of the educational sessions.

" 2010 promises to be an interesting year for healthcare real estate, with healthcare reform pending, the credit markets loosening and transactions beginning again,” noted Gordon Soderlund, executive vice president—Strategic Relationships, The DASCO Companies, LLC, and 2009–2010 co–chair, BOMA´s Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Committee. "We expect that the conference will generate some great dialogue about all of these issues."
