BOMA’s Foundations of Real Estate Management Course Approved for RPA Credit

March 2, 2010

(WASHINGTON—March 2, 2010) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International today announced that their Foundations of Real Estate Management® course has been approved by BOMI International for competency credit for the Fundamentals of Real Property Administration course in BOMI’s Real Property Administrator® (RPA) designation curriculum.

BOMA´s Foundations of Real Estate Management course is a five-module, 28-hour entry-level course covering the fundamentals of commercial real estate administration, management, building systems, accounting and reporting, contract management and more. The popular program, offered through BOMA local associations, is ideal for both new and experienced commercial real estate professionals because of the breadth of topics covered. The comprehensive curriculum, reinforced with behind-the-scenes tours of outstanding buildings, supplements on-the-job and corporate training programs, and prepares new and rising talent for more real estate management responsibilities and assignments.

“We are very pleased to announce that our Foundations of Real Estate Management course has been approved for credit towards BOMI’s Real Property Administrator designation,” remarked BOMA International Chair James A. Peck, RPA, FMA, senior director of asset services, CB Richard Ellis. “The Foundations course fills a critical need by providing young professionals with an understanding of commercial property management functions to ensure they thrive in our industry.”

To receive the credit, students must attend the Foundations course and pass an exam with a score of 70 percent or better. Students who have already taken the Foundations course are also eligible for credit.  Students must also complete RPA enrollment and other application procedures with BOMI International.
