LED (LIGHT-EMITTING DIODE)

An electronic device that emits light when an electrical current is passed through it.  LED’s are energy efficient and have a long lifespan (often more than 100,000 hours).  The energy efficient nature of LED’s allows them to produce brighter light than other types of bulbs while using significantly less energy to produce the same amount of light.  An LED fixture can produce the same amount of light as a comparable HID for roughly 10% of the electrical consumption/usage.
