National Model Code Development Activity

International Code Council 2015-2017 Code Development Cycle

The International Code Council has begun the three year development cycle that will result in the publication of the 2018 I-Codes, and BOMA International wants to ensure that our members have all the tools and resources they need to successfully advocate at the state and local level. This cycle marks the beginning of ICC’s new online cdpACCESS portal where users will be able to collaborate and submit proposals, floor modifications and public comments online. Following the Public Comment Hearings, Governmental Voting members will be able to take advantage of the online governmental voting ballot to vote on code changes that received public comments.

It is during this stage that it will be imperative that BOMA members reach out to their local officials. To learn more about the ICC code development process, visit the ICC website at www.iccsafe.org

ICC Online Governmental Consensus Voting Guide:

BOMA encourages all ICC Governmental members to consider these positions and support only those code changes that are necessary for protecting the health, safety and welfare of tenants, building occupants and our first responders in the built environment. BOMA wants to ensure that the ICC national model codes continue to be useable, enforceable and adoptable throughout the United States. The following proposed code changes will appear in the online Governmental Consensus Voting beginning November 7th, 2016.
