BOMA International's Advocacy Efforts Are Energized
In 2015, BOMA International’s lobbying efforts resulted in a series of historic victories for the commercial real estate industry. The passage of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015 in December included a permanent extension of the 15-year depreciation on qualified leasehold improvements, BOMA’s top tax priority; fixes to the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA); and a straight two-year extension of the energy efficiency deduction for commercial buildings.
While these are important victories, there are many issues left unsettled for 2016. Most importantly, who will become our next president? The 2016 legislative calendar is hot with issues critical to BOMA International members—now is the time to get involved and get energized!
