BOMA International’s National Advisory Council (NAC) is an exclusive network of senior commercial real estate professionals. The NAC is focused on discussing the most pressing issues impacting companies with large regional, national, and international portfolios, while acting as a leadership sounding board for BOMA. In the past year, NAC members have talked to:
- Business Owner, Author and Columnist (New York Times, Forbes, Business Week) Gene Marks
- Professor Kerry Vandell, Director of the Center for Real Estate, The Paul Merage School of Business, University of California - Irvine
- Corporate Real Estate Executives, including Stan Gibson of Wells Fargo and Trex Morris of Ernst & Young
- Christopher Lee, President and CEO, CEL & Associates, Inc.
- Scott Muldavin, CRE, FRICS, President of The Muldavin Company and Executive Director of the Green Building Finance Consortium
- Principals on topics including:
- Lease-Accounting Rules (FASB 13)
- Talent Recruitment and Retention
- PR Strategies to Combat the “Not In My Back Yard” Mentality
- Business Models for “Greening” Your Buildings
Council members are drawn from the nation's largest companies that develop, own or manage commercial real estate representing skill sets in every discipline of real estate ownership and management. The members come together three times a year to share perspectives, advance policy recommendations, and learn from each other. It is a combination of intense business networking, and valuable social time that benefits companies and careers.
There is plenty of time at each of the meetings to identify critical issues of the day and discuss them in open forums. NAC members have direct access to the volunteer and staff leaders of BOMA to leverage the resources of BOMA’s 93 local associations representing over 9 billion square feet of office space and a $118 billion marketplace. BOMA’s staff is renowned for its advocacy, education, research, and other services, and NAC members develop direct ties to the professional staff team to support their staffs. Members also receive legislative and regulatory updates as developments break, copies of BOMA’s new publications, as well as exposure to key players in the industry.
Over its 25-year history, the NAC has been a meaningful business forum for chief operating officers of the nation’s largest commercial real estate companies, and the corporate users of that real estate.
