June 4, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(WASHINGTON, D.C. — June 4, 2019) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International will offer an extensive educational program and exceptional opportunities for professional development at the 2019 BOMA International Conference & Expo, which takes place June 22-25 in Salt Lake City.

Professionals of all backgrounds and experience levels will find a fresh assortment of career-enhancing growth opportunities within the conference’s more than 40 educational sessions. The sessions are organized across seven distinct focus areas, providing attendees with a user-friendly format to customize their itinerary and select topics corresponding with their own educational needs.

“The annual conference covers an impressive scope of pertinent issues and trends impacting the commercial real estate industry,” commented BOMA International Chair Brian Cappelli, BOMA Fellow, RPA, vice president of Asset Management at GBX Group LLC. “These education sessions prepare attendees for potential challenges and opportunities they might not even be aware of yet. Attending the annual conference empowers attendees with insight for today and tomorrow.”

These educational sessions have been expertly curated to give a competitive edge to commercial real estate professionals—whether new to the industry or seasoned veterans—for their careers, their buildings and their companies. There is no limit to what conference attendees might take home with them, be it a practical solution to what once seemed unsolvable or a lead on new technology. Each unique educational session offers an opportunity to further and diversify one’s current industry awareness. Below is a sampling of sessions featured in each education track at the upcoming conference:

Building Operations and Management

  • Session spotlight: Building owners know that energy projects can yield profitable results at a low risk rate, but they often lack the capital or resources to make an initial investment. At Emerging Financing Solutions for Business Owners, attendees will learn how to access financing through a comprehensive exploration of available options.

Occupant Engagement

  • Session spotlight: As tenants continue to demand additional amenities, building owners and managers have enlisted the help of mobile service providers to fulfill this growing need. Recognizing a significant increase in these services over the past five years, the panel at Mobile Vendor Traffic Cop is here to discuss best practices in managing these vendors, touching on everything from coordination to clean up.

The conference will also feature Spotlight Sessions, which offer special insight into leading effective teams and building a positive, high-performing work culture.

To make sure attendees get the maximum benefit from their attendance, every session qualifies for ARM, CCM, CPM, FMA, RPA, SMA and SMT, and renewal and continuing professional development credits. Several sessions are approved for LEED credential maintenance and renewal of the Building Operator Certification (BOC). Some sessions also contribute to the requirements for real estate license renewal in many U.S. states and Canada.

The 2019 BOMA International Conference & Expo is commercial real estate’s most important event of the year. More than 400 exhibits by leading manufacturers and suppliers at the BOMA International Expo will empower attendees with solutions for the industry challenges of today and tomorrow. An extensive educational program will cover a variety of subject matter, complemented by the fresh perspectives of speakers like futurist Amy Webb, who will deliver Sunday’s keynote presentation on emerging technology disruptors. At Tuesday’s General Session, two industry experts will discuss what building owners and managers can learn from The Walt Disney Company to achieve a healthy culture with a healthy bottom line. The event will culminate in The Outstanding Building of the Year® (TOBY®) Awards, the commercial real estate industry's highest recognition honoring excellence in commercial building management and operations.
