Sustainability Visionaries Honored with BOMA International Chairman’s Award
Sustainability Visionaries Honored with BOMA International Chairman’s Award
(Washington, DC—July 18, 2008) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International 2007-2008 Chair and Chief Elected Officer Brenna S. Walraven, RPA, CPM, managing director, national property management, USAA Real Estate Company, recently recognized a group of visionaries, affectionately known as the “green team,” for their outstanding leadership in taking BOMA’s sustainability platform to a new level. The team was presented the Chairman’s Award at the BOMA International Conference and The Office Building Show, held June 22-24 in Denver.
The Chairman’s Award is the highest recognition presented by the BOMA International Chair and is bestowed annually upon those who through innovation, talent and dedication have set new standards of excellence for the commercial real estate industry. While the award is usually presented to an individual, this year marked the first time a group was honored. Winners this year were instrumental in the development of BOMA’s sustainability initiatives, including the award-winning BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP), a program that promote energy efficiency through no- and low-cost operational practices, and the 7-Point Challenge initiative with the aggressive but attainable goal of reducing energy in commercial buildings by 30 percent by 2012 (based on an ENERGY STAR® rating of 50). Receiving the Chairman’s Award were:
- Stuart Brodsky, regional sustainability leader, North American equity, GE Real Estate
- Lori Carter, RPA, property manager, Crestone Partners LLC
- Patrick D. Clark, RPA, CCIM, vice president, property management, Wright Runstad & Co.
