Five strategic education tracks to be presented, June 22-24
(Washington, DC—April 17, 2008) BOMA International, the industry leader delivering relevant and comprehensive education for property professionals, is featuring a dynamic education program at the BOMA International Conference, June 22-24 in Denver. Designed by leading experts for professionals at all levels of experience, the program will feature more than 40 sessions organized around five strategic tracks: Achieving Sustainability, Enhancing Asset Value, Building a High Performance Team, Optimizing Technology and Exploring New Business Opportunities.
“BOMA has built its reputation on providing premier education programming for the commercial real estate industry,” said BOMA International Chairman and Chief Elected Officer Brenna S. Walraven, RPA, CPM, executive managing director, national property management, USAA Real Estate Company. “The education program at this year’s conference is our most comprehensive to date, giving industry professionals the critical tools to compete and succeed in an increasingly challenging marketplace.”
The Achieving Sustainability track addresses sustainability issues, particularly in existing buildings, and will provide attendees the tools and resources to execute the business case for greening and energy efficiency. The session topics and case studies include no- and low-cost operations practices, green certification (including LEED EB version 2008 and Green Globes), retrofitting existing buildings, as well as sustainability in a mixed-use environment.
Enhancing Asset Value concentrates on strategies for achieving better net operating income in the face of changing market conditions. Session topics include an in-depth approach to emergency preparedness, tenant satisfaction, controlling risk and energy management.
The Building a High-Performance Team track focuses on how property managers can build high-performing management teams, an increasingly important topic as the industry faces demographic shifts and a tightening talent pool. First-rate faculty, such as Harvard University Professor Frank Cespedes, will coach industry professionals on how to maximize their ROI on talent, including recruiting, retaining, developing and training members of their team.
Optimizing Technology deals with the pertinent topic of not only how to implement new technology in commercial buildings, but how to integrate those technologies for optimal performance. Courses include “The Top 10 List for Successfully Integrating Building Systems” and “Cisco Systems Case Study: The Connected Workplace.”
The fifth track, Exploring New Business Opportunities, presents commercial real estate professionals with ways of identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities to grow their commercial real estate business. Industry veterans will advise on the challenges and benefits of emerging market sectors such as mixed-use, new locations and international markets.
