BOMA/Orange County Contributes Additional $10,000 to Support Groundbreaking BEEP Seminars

(WASHINGTON, DC—July 12, 2006) BOMA/Orange County has increased their support of the landmark BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) by contributing an additional $10,000 to the highly successful educational seminars. The announcement came during the Building Owners and Managers (BOMA) International North American Commercial Real Estate Congress® and The Office Building Show in Dallas, Texas, June 24-27.

The BEEP program, which offers cutting-edge energy savings solutions through a series of Web-assisted audio seminars, was developed by the BOMA Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR® program. To date, over 2,500 people have been educated through BEEP seminars.

“The unprecedented success of the BEEP program demonstrates that building owners and managers are serious about making energy efficiency a priority,” said Gary Wood, RPA, chair of the BOMA Foundation. “This generous second contribution by Champion Sponsor BOMA/Orange County will help us continue to grow on the success of BEEP and bring more awareness to what may be the most pressing issue facing our industry today.”

“In just a few short months, BEEP has become one of the great success stories of the commercial real estate industry,” said Kathryn Leigh, RPA, FMA, regional property manager with Birtcher Anderson Properties, Inc. and president of BOMA/Orange County. “The innovative strategies provided through the BEEP seminars are helping owners improve their ROI and property managers save on energy and occupancy costs, provide better working environments for tenants and reduce harmful emissions. BOMA/Orange County is delighted to continue supporting this important program.”

Upcoming courses include:

  • How to Benchmark Energy Performance, Thursday, August 3
  • No-and Low-Cost Operational Adjustments to Improve Energy Performance, Friday, September 8
  • Valuing Energy Enhancement Projects & Financial Returns, Friday, October 13
  • Building an Energy Awareness Program, Friday, November 10

The BEEP program is one of several sustainable energy initiatives developed for the industry. During the Office Building Show in Dallas, Texas, June 25-27, BOMA teamed up with ENERGY STAR® for the popular BOMA Green Pavilion and ENERGY STAR® Showcase. Delegates “walked the green carpet” to view the latest in environmentally friendly and energy-efficient products and services by leading companies.
